MPGFACTS.com provides MPG (miles per gallon) and expected fuel cost information on virtually all 1984 - 2009 vehicles sold in the US. The database contains over 20,000 cars, trucks, SUV's and other special purpose vehicles.

Vehicle information displayed on this website is obtained from databases released by the Evironmental Protection Agency at www.fueleconomy.gov. This information is tabulated with current gas price data from the US Energy Information Administration to give you an expected annual fuel cost estimate for each vehicle. Also a map showing fuel prices nationwide is provided by GasBuddy.com. You can use the map to find current gas prices in your neighborhood.

Another aspect of fuel economy is gallons per mile. Duke University professor Rick Larrick says, "... people are tricked by MPG. They fail to recognize that replacing a car that gets 10 MPG with one that gets 11 MPG saves as much gas over a given distance as replacing a car that gets 33 MPG with one that gets 50 MPG."

In 2008 the EPA changed the method used for calculating MPG to better reflect what a typical driver should experience with their vehicle. The MPG calculations displayed, at the top of each detailed vehicle information page, are adjusted to reflect the 2008 computation method.
